an important goal of the via milano new dutch design foundation is to bring dutch design to the attention of a wide audience. from september 2009 the foundation will do so with the help of a new president: hedy d’ancona.
she’s director of many cultural organisations, a.o. the groninger museum. the graphic design museum and the amsterdam

art fund,. she’s also a former governor, member of the european parliament and minister of welfare, health and culture.

an interesting overview of the last ten years ‘new dutch design’, curated by ingeborg de roode (head curator industrial design stedelijk museum amsterdam). as the projectleader of the foundation via milano new dutch design, uniquole was asked to realize this exhibition.

overview shows work from marcel wanders, gijs bakker, tord boontje, royal tichelaar makkum, claudy jongstra among others. 150 object are presented in the old church, in the centre of the capital city.

the result is a balanced presentation of good dutch design. also this year the

exhibition will take place at the woonbeurs amsterdam. there will be work from several academies, pieke bergmans, piet hein eek, dennis slootweg and many more.

again this year via milano travels from the salone del mobile in milan to the woonbeurs amsterdam. in the rai the dutch audience is presented with a unique mix of substantial, meaningful and conceptually strong work by talented dutch designers. rely on the

professionals’ perspective: the work has been selected by paul derrez, richard hutten, jeroen junte, albertine verlinde and dick and janni brouwers – van pelt. stijlinstituut amsterdam draws up the plans for a perfect décor.

the hungarian design festival wamp, with dutch design as its central theme, demonstrates how via milano new dutch design also establishes strong presentations abroad and puts dutch design in the spotlights. this large-scale exhibition, at a stunning location of the design centre in the middle of the city is a unique opportunity for dutch designers to present their work

for the duration of one year the staff and visitors are treated to a private exhibition of dutch design by dick van hoff, jurgen bey, ineke hans, tjeerd veenhoven, maartje steenkamp for droog design. in glass displays of 5X5m the work is beautifully presented throughout the whole building. in part a temporary home, but for many a permanent residence: acquired by achmea / interpolis for their own art collection!

many guests from the world of economics, government and culture found their way to the grand opening of a spectacular presentation of dutch design at the dutch embassy (rem koolhaas) during the world championship football. with inside work by ineke hans, springtime, tjep!, miriam van der lubbe, lambert kamps, bertjan pot, and outside the tubs by floris schoonderbeek for a visual refreshment during the open days. catalogue sponsored by royal tnt post. become an ambassador for dutch design and contact uniquole.

design as holland’s greatest export product. works selected by ben van berkel, wim van krimpen, claudy jongstra, edo dijksterhuis and marjan unger made a virtual trip on auction wagons, chained together by a dutch black smith. in a long line, under the great dutch deck of clouds (vertical vision) the auction wagons rode on the green grass from milan to holland, to harvest new success in amsterdam.

the relation between art, culture and the dutch industry took on an extra dimension with the exhibition of contemporary dutch design, organized by uniquole at special request. dutch design in the theatre, a new genre in the performing arts. secretary of state, medy van der laan enjoyed the honour of a personal guided tour by uniquole. under loud applause of course.

monthly design glossy eigen huis & interieur breathes design and draws oxygen from home grown talent. during a one year period uniquole provided a monthly profile, in which designers from the via milano new dutch design collection were brought to the readers‚ attention. a portfolio with work in exceptional studio photography and discussed from the designers own personal vision.

stroll along the streets of milan. uniquole did not only bring together the collected trophies of dutch design for a trip to the design mecca, but also magically transported the visitors of via milano in holland. in a great stand alone presentation 100.000 guests pictured themselves amongst the flaunting italian public, for a glance at dutch design and trends of the moment. a virtual tour along truly unique objects, selected by hannah belliot, rob wagemans, ineke hans, diana krabbendam, aad krol, and thimo te duits.
