nicole uniquole and conny bakker (professor tu delft, faculty of industrial design engineering) have been appointed honorary members of the bno | professional association of dutch designers.

these hall of fame include benno premsela, lidewij edelkoort, timo de rijk, gert dumbar, anthon beeke, dick bruna, wim crouwel, friso kramer, kho liang ie and wim rietveld.

bno honorary members: people who are appointed honorary members because of their great merits for the profession and / or the association. this pays tribute to everything, and the honorary members act as icons and ambassadors for the design profession

from 2020 galleria meravigli will be a valuable addition to the decor of the dutch design pavilion during the salone del mobile. uniquole introduces the exhibition concept ‘crystal palace’ for this exciting location.

this covered promenade – “the sister of the galleria vittorio emanuele II next to the duomo”, is strategically located next to the palazzo francesco turati, the base of masterly. as the name crystal palace already reveals, during milan design week, only art and design of glass, crystal or steel will be on display, with a swirling installation of glass by glass artist bibi smit as the center piece.

the exhibition is a nod to the eponymous crystal palace of the world exhibition in london in 1851, a grand pavilion made entirely of steel and glass.

with abet laminati, carina riezebos, kris ruhs (corso como) and blok plaatmateriaal.

starting september 2019, nicole uniquole will be art director of ‘the gallery’ milan.

“the gallery” is the shortened name for galleria meravigli, the new event location for product launches and company presentations. also a unique location for dance performances, theater productions, cinema performances and gala dinners. the galleria is within walking distance of the duomo, next to the famous piazza affari.

the monumental building in the heart of milan is ready for the future thanks to the care of paolo salluzzi, owner of the adjacent galleria meravigli bistrot.

already there have been collaborations with porsche, dom perignon, armani, masterly, furla and mini cooper.

its photogenic appearance makes ‘the gallery’ the perfect location for photoshoots. mini cooper, furla and armani are amongst those who have discovered ‘the gallery’.

every year in april ‘the gallery’ acts as the stage for masterly – the dutch in milano.

in february 2026 the dutch are also coming to milan but this time it will be the winter olympic atheletes. ‘the gallery’, situated in the heart of milan at 200 metres from the dom, may just be the location for dutch victory celebrations.
